For July’s Open Demo Event, HGA is once again proud to host artist, Jason McDonald, back to our studio! McDonald earned an MFA at Tyler School of Art and Architecture and a BFA from California College of Arts. He shares his passion for glass as an instructor at Pratt Fine Arts, Urban Glass, and Pilchuck Glass School. His work ranges “from identity politics to the ecstatic joy of deep craft. Sometimes my work is about creating a narrative that conveys my lived experience of existing in a still unequal nation. At other times my work is about using my chosen medium to explore the potentiality of the material itself and my own growing, but incomplete, understanding of it.” Jason was also featured on season 2 of Netflix’s hit series, Blown Away!

Join us for a live glassblowing demonstration @ 6-9 PM where our hot shop team will assist McDonald with making 1-2 sculptural pieces in front of a live audience! Snack and beverages are provided with no reservation or ticket necessary for entry.
